What could be a soap-and-water job could turn into something much more difficult if the paint is allowed to dry and bake in the sun. The sooner you try to clean the spray paint, the better. Regardless of the type of paint, if it hasn’t fully dried yet, this may do the trick. Keep in mind the vandalism may just be a playful hoax with easily washable paint.
Use a rag or dishcloth and scrub the offending paint. Depending on the vandals’ choice of paint, your problem may be solved right here. Treat with soapy waterįill a bucket with very warm, soapy water. Use a mild detergent, such as dish soap or a car-washing solution. If you discover it early in the morning when the dew is still on the car and the paint is damp, you might just have a chance at getting it off without having to take the car into an auto body shop. Going to try a few more things tomorrow but I am guessing I am not going to find anything better than the Goo B Gone Extreme spray, scrub, spray, scrub technique.Let’s hope you never have to get spray paint off your car, but on the off chance that you do-perhaps after somebody had a little too much fun on Halloween - or perhaps you cheated on your partner like the person above!! Either way, it’s not a pleasant surprise! Even using my fingernail it is really tough. I thought this would just come right off with the clay bar but nope. The real pain is the super fine splatter that is way up on the doors and bed sides. This works but requires a few more passes and if you have to be around people I wouldn't recommend it. Then, just for the hell of it I tried a gas soaked rag. I tried this technique with brake cleaner and it seemed to require a little more scrubbing but will work. Still leaves a little where it impacted on the paint that requires some work with the clay bar or a fingernail to get off. After a few tries I figured out that if I sprayed it, let it sit for a few seconds, lightly scrubbed it with a rag and then sprayed it again, and scrubbed some more it got most the stuff off. Last night I was spraying the Goo Gone Extreme on a rag and then rubbing it on the paint but tonight I sprayed it directly on the truck and it worked A LOT better. Then I went back and tried some stuff over again.
Hit it with a little heat from the heat gun and it seemed to soften the trucks paint up as much as the road paint so I quickly stopped that after trying a few things with little progress. GUNK bug and tar remover, wasn't going to bother with this kind of stuff but it was on clearance for 2 bucks so I figured what the hell. Let it sit 60 seconds in a few test spots and it did absolutley nothing. Went and got some MOTSENBOCKER LIFT OFF LATEX BASED paint remover from Lowe's. SO I tried a few different things tonight.
